Wet underfloor heating systems are an effective way of incorporating a heating system into a joisted floor construction for both new build and refurbishment situations. Underfloor heating can be installed on any suspended timber floor with wooden joists whether on ground or upper floor levels. Wet which is so called because hot water is pumped through pipes in the floor or dry which is the name used for electric systems that run off the mains.

Wet underfloor heating is often recommended for use with suspended timber floors and the tectora joisted batten system is a perfect solution. There are 3 main ways to install a ufh system within a joisted floor. This system utilises the void between the floor joists as a space for the water underfloor heating pipework and insulation panels. By utilising the space in the joist void with effective insulation underfloor heating maximises heat output and allows an even distribution of heat across the entire floor space.

Wet systems are fed off hot water often heated by a boiler but also work well with renewables such as solar panels or heat pumps. This means you need to select a conservatory style kit or a multiple room kit standard room kits are designed with the pipe spacing at 250mm centers which would mean you would not have enough pipe in the kit.
